Go Deeper, No Matter How it Looks

Being an example has nothing to do with what it looks like.

I was getting frustrated there was a depth I couldn’t access, and I was tempted to side with my mind and stay on the surface. One of the biggest fears and deepest desires I’ve grappled with - that I would write and speak and live from a real place, from a place that’s really God, not a fake thing I’ve made up in my head.

I was following all my routines - showing up to my laptop for a certain amount of time, working on each project, every day. That’s not it!

God showed me - it doesn’t matter what it looks like. It’s about seeking the Heart - no matter what that looks like. Routines and structure are a good reminder of what we’re going for, but they can’t substitute letting go of the mind and going for the heart. Sometimes the Soul longing won’t be satisfied with - doesn’t fit into - the hours you’ve allocated for it. Sometimes God wants you over here, when you’re set on being over there.

I know, it feels infuriating - you’ve just got the discipline to be able to show up consistently. Don’t lose that, I hear God say. Don’t lose it. I will use it. But don’t let it become the reason you show up. Don’t let “setting a good example” - or what you THINK setting a good example is for others - be the reason you keep showing up. That will wear you out.

It looks like you’re doing work, but you’re not.

Travel deeper, go further.

Go for your heart.

Go for the depths.

Regardless of what that looks like.

It doesn’t matter if others don’t understand it. They’ll feel the resonance of your heart. They’ll feel Me.
